Since the release of mSecure 6.1.1 for Android, some users have reported that their data is not displaying correctly. Our team investigated the issue and identified the cause. We plan to release a fix in version 6.1.3. We apologize for any inconvenience this bug may have caused.
Note: This bug affects Android devices only.
What Causes the Bug?
The issue occurs when a user changes their password in Android version 6.1.1. This change disrupts the account key and prevents data from displaying properly.
When the bug appears, the encryption and decryption keys stored in the app become corrupted. mSecure cannot display your data because it can no longer decrypt it into a readable form. Unfortunately, you cannot recover your data using the new password set during this process.
How to Recover Your Data
Currently, there are two ways to restore your information:
- Restore from a Backup: If you remember your old password, you can restore from a backup made before the password change.
- Use Another Device: If you have mSecure installed on another device, your data should remain unaffected on that device.
Immediate Action: Version 6.1.2 Release
We are releasing Android version 6.1.2 today (June 20) to disable the password change feature temporarily. This step prevents the bug from affecting additional accounts.
Important: Until version 6.1.3 becomes available in the Google Play Store:
- Do not change your password on Android.
- You can safely change your password on an iOS device, PC, or Mac, as this bug does not affect these platforms.
Troubleshooting Your Data
If you cannot see your data properly on Android, follow these steps:
- Option 1: Run mSecure on another device.
- Option 2: Restore from a backup using your previous password.
If neither of these applies, contact our support team. Our team will help troubleshoot and restore your data.
